Biodegradation of Thermoplastic and hermosetting Polyesters from Z-Protected Glutamic Acid

چکیده
In a previous article,1 the development and molecular characterization of three polyesters from Ncarbobenzyloxy-L-glutamic acid (ZGluOH) were reported. The polymers were a linear, heterochain polyester (ZGluOH and ethylene glycol), a crosslinked heterochain polyester (ZGluOH and diglycidyl ether of 1,4-butanediol), and a crosslinked, heterochain aromatic polyester (ZGluOH and diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A). In this manuscript, results of biodegradation studies are reported. The three polymers hydrolyzed to low molecular weight oligomers similar to the monomers with lipase. When exposed to a mixed culture of micro-organisms, the first two resins degraded to biomass and respiratory gases. The crosslinked heterochain aromatic polyester resisted microbial degradation.

Z-Protected Glutamic Acid-Based Biodegradable Thermoplastic and Thermosetting Polyesters: Synthesis and Characterization
Biodegradable polymers were formed from N-benzyloxycarbonyl-L-glutamic acid with the comonomers ethylene glycol, diglycidyl ether of 1,4-butanediol, and diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A. The three polymers were a linear and a rosslinked heterochain polyester and a crosslinked polyester that contained aromatic units within its network chains. The thermoplastic resin and the soluble fractions for ...

A biodegradable polyester resin was polymerized from N-benzyloxycarbonylL -glutamic acid and ethylene glycol. Rhizopus delemar lipase was used as a biocatalyst for the rupture of ester bonds during the hydrolysis studies. Depolymerization was observed to followa Michaelis–Menten mechanism, with the maximumrate of monomer formation dP/dtmax = 1.12 x 10-8 mol/s and the rate constant Km x 2.03 x 1...
متن کاملA comparative study on poly(xylitol sebacate) and poly(glycerol sebacate): mechanical properties, biodegradation and cytocompatibility.
In order to develop degradable elastomers with a satisfactory combination of flexibility and enzyme-mediated degradation rate, the mechanical properties, enzymatic degradation kinetics and biocompatibility of poly(xylitol sebcate) (PXS) has been systematically investigated in comparison with poly(glycerol sebacate) (PGS). Under the same level of crosslinked density, the PXS elastomer networks h...

In this Article, we studied the enzymatic hydrolytic biodegradation behavior of a novel multiblock thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) system, which incorporates polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) into linear biodegradable thermoplastic polyurethanes containing poly(ε-caproactone) (PCL) and polyethylene glycol (PEG) blocks. The biodegradation behavior of POSS-PCL-PEG TPUs was characterize...

Equilibria of the reaction of molybdenum(VI) with L-aspartic acid (Asp) and L- Glutamic acid(Glu) have been studied by spectrophotometric measurements in mixed solvent systems at an ionicstrength of 0.2 mol/dm3 sodium perchlorate, employed (15, 20, 25, 30± 0.1°C) at pH ranges of 3.2to 5.5 with a high ratio of ligand to metal. The stability constants of the complexes and theresulting free energy...
